The Importance of Proactive Car Repairs

After I started working full time, I realized that I didn't have a ton of spare time to deal with broken cars. I was tired of struggling with the normal sounds and smells that my car was emitting, so I started thinking more carefully about proactive car repairs. I started abiding by the maintenance schedule and carefully reviewing my service records. It was a lot of work, but I was able to make a complete record of my car care and plan for future services. After carefully tweaking my vehicle, I was able to completely overhaul the system and make things right. Check out this blog to find out why car repairs are so important.

4 Tips For Dealing With A Vehicle Parked In Front Of Your Home For An Extended Period Of Time

Abandoned vehicles can be an eyesore, and also take up valuable parking space. If you notice that a car, truck, or R.V. has been parked in front of your home for several days without being moved, you may want to take it upon yourself to do what you can to have it removed. Use the following tips for dealing with an abandoned vehicle parked in front of your home:

Research Local Laws

Many cities and municipalities have laws on the books regarding vehicles and how long they can be left parked on the street. There are usually also laws that state that a disabled vehicle that does not run needs to be stored inside a garage or in a fenced yard. Once you know the laws for your area, you can move forward with getting the vehicle removed.

Talk to Your Neighbors

When a vehicle is left on the street in front of your property for an extended amount of time, you may want to visit your neighbors in the surrounding houses to inquire about the vehicle. It may be possible that one of your neighbors has out of town guests visiting, or the car may belong to a neighbor but currently be broken down. If you can locate the owner of the vehicle you can inform him or her about local laws that prohibit keeping a vehicle parked on the street for an extended amount of time.

Contact Your Home Owners' Association

Many home owners associations have rules about cars being parked on the street, and the property management company may be able to help you get the car removed if you are unable to locate the owner. Before contacting your HOA's property management company, spend the time to review your community's rules to see if there is a section regarding on-street parking.

Call the Local Police Department

If all else fails, call your local police department to report the vehicle. Be prepared to describe the car and provide the license plate number. In some cases, vehicles that are abandoned on the street have been reported stolen. The local police will have the authority to contact a towing company and arrange for tow truck service to remove the vehicle from the street directly in front of your property. When the police are involved, you should not be responsible for any of the expenses associated with having the vehicle towed.

For tow truck services, contact a company such as Car And Truck Services Inc.
