The Importance of Proactive Car Repairs

After I started working full time, I realized that I didn't have a ton of spare time to deal with broken cars. I was tired of struggling with the normal sounds and smells that my car was emitting, so I started thinking more carefully about proactive car repairs. I started abiding by the maintenance schedule and carefully reviewing my service records. It was a lot of work, but I was able to make a complete record of my car care and plan for future services. After carefully tweaking my vehicle, I was able to completely overhaul the system and make things right. Check out this blog to find out why car repairs are so important.

What You Need To Know About Using The Extended Warranty On Your Vehicle

If you purchased a car or truck and added an extended warranty to it, you need to understand how to use the warranty to ensure any work done is covered. In most cases, you can take the car to any mechanic for extended warranty cars, but in some cases, the warranty might require specific locations, so it is essential to understand the terms.

Extended Warranty Coverage

If you purchase a new car it will come with a factory warranty that covers the vehicle for a specific amount of miles. If you are buying the car used, that is often not the case, so purchasing an extended warranty for the vehicle is the best way to get the coverage you need.

Pre-owned cars and trucks may have some remaining factory warranty that is transferrable, but you will be responsible for repairs once it runs out. Adding an extended warranty is very common in this situation, and the dealer you buy the car and warranty through very often has a mechanic for extended warranty cars that can make repairs for you.

Warranty repairs can include many different things, so it is essential that the mechanic can handle all of them. The dealer you are buying the warranty through can go over the stipulations of the warranty plan, explain the coverage, and what the cost of the plan and the deductible for using it will be.

Submitting A Claim

If something breaks on your car or truck that is covered under the extended warranty, you need to take the car to the shop and have them work up an estimate for the work to submit to the warranty company. The shop should have a mechanic for extended warranty cars that understands how the warranty works and how to determine if the repair falls under your coverage plan.

If the warranty covers the repair, the shop can submit the claim to the warranty company for you and try to get approval to make the repair. You will often still need to pay some amount of deductible, but typically the amount is significantly lower than the repair cost.

The deductible may not be the same for every part of the vehicle, so once the mechanic has determined the problem, the warranty company can tell you how much they will cover and what the cost will be for your share. The fee may also have a cap that limits your out-of-pocket expense if the repair involves something like an engine replacement or a transmission failure. If you are not sure what the deductibles are, you can call the warranty company anytime to find out and determine what they will cover.
